Georgetown

Last night Ms. T. took the whole group out for dinner at Old Ebbitt Grill. Before dinner we got a group picture in front of the White House and saw the infamous “Tent Lady” that everyone remembered from our 8th grade trip. Dinner was really nice and everyone enjoyed talking and trying the oysters. We all thanked and said good bye to Ms. T. because she was leaving early the next morning. After dinner we walked around U- Street and DuPont Circle but realized we were too tired and cold so we went back to the hotel. We all joined in one hotel room and talked for hours until we realized we were all exhausted and went to bed. We were all excited to be able to sleep in and have a free day on Sunday.
Everyone slept in until noon except for Meredith and Elaina who went to mass. Everyone loved sleeping in especially since we have not gotten enough sleep during the work week. We all got dressed and went to Georgetown during the day. There are no Metro stops to Georgetown so everyone either walked or took a taxi. We all walked around Georgetown going into the different shops and restaurants. Georgetown was really nice and was similar to a larger downtown Franklin. We then all reconvened in the evening to go to a group dinner at Marshall's Grille near the hotel. Tired and wanting to prepare for the full work week ahead, everyone came back to the hotel and watched TV and did laundry.
Mr. S. also came tonight, and we had a group meeting in his room. After the group meeting, Caroline, Caroline M., and I all ventured up to the laundry room to do laundry. After frantically calling our parents wondering what temperature we washed our clothes on, we finally figured it out. We were able to wash our clothes with success, and none of our clothes had changed to a suspicious color. We did not realize how long it took to wash and dry clothes and were distraught to find that after an hour in the dryer our clothes were still wet. We finally decided to just hang dry the remainder of clothes in the room.
I am excited for the week to come and know it will be long and challenging. Congressman Cooper is coming this week to the Washington office so it will be nice getting to meet him personally after having a conference call last week. I can’t believe how fast this first week went and am excited for what the next two weeks have in store.
